Copyright and score policy

WikiMusic.org publishes a curated catalog of keyboard scores whose retained evidence affirmatively supports publication. An old composer or a file found on a public website is not sufficient evidence by itself.

Copyright or related rights can exist independently in:

Score-specific source, provenance, contributor, and license information is retained in each published ABC file. When viewing a score, select Edit to inspect the ABC source and its metadata.

WikiMusic.org uses an automated process to convert approved source files into ABC. It claims no new copyright merely for that format conversion and adds no separate license layer. The source status or license retained in the ABC header continues to govern the converted score.

The MIT license for WikiMusic.org’s own application code does not apply to the scores or third-party software and assets; each retains its own stated license.

Voluntary project support does not purchase access to a score or remove attribution, NonCommercial, ShareAlike, or other applicable license conditions.

If you believe material should not be published, please use the copyright concern and takedown process or email copyright@wikimusic.org.
